drug detox
A drug detox is primarily to assist drug users to overcome the physical aspects of drug abuse. Detox is intended to stabilise individuals who have abused mind altering substances. Withdrawal can have severe medical complications therefore around the clock medical supervision is paramount. The nature and severity of the withdrawal symptoms varies greatly depending on the particular drug or drugs that are being used as well as the frequency of use. The detox program can include medically managed drug reduction and also use of substitute prescribed drugs such as methadone, however, this method of detox is only recommended within a residential setting and with the assistance of a nurse and medical doctor.
At Tailored Rehab, we only ever refer a client to a centre where there is a proficient understanding of the interaction of various methods, as well as employees who are professionally trained in all aspects of addiction.
A Detox program covers all aspects of withdrawal from drugs. The removal of all drug impurities is a key objective within detox. Without this process, it is possible for drug residues to remain within the drug user’s body which can cause cravings for some time, even after drug use has come stopped.
