rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is the name used for the process of a medical and/or psychotherapeutic treatment given to people who have become dependent on drugs or alcohol, or who may have an unhealthy relationship with food, sex and/or gambling.

There are many different types of Rehabilitation solutions available these include residential treatment, medical detox centres, support groups and at home counselling and detox services.

Psychological dependency is addressed in many rehabilitation programs by attempting to teach a client new methods of interacting in an addiction free environment along with addressing the issues of why substances such as alcohol, food, sex and/or gambling were turned to as a method of controlling thoughts and feelings, relaxation, and enjoyment in the first place.

For legal drugs such as alcohol and illegal or legal substances complete abstinence is suggested, rather than attempts to moderate their use. This has been proven to help lead to a healthier and more beneficial way of dealing with life circumstances.

For substance addiction and alcohol dependency, it is suggested that rehabilitation should follow once the detox program and withdrawal process has been completed, this will help the alcohol or drug user repair what their addiction has done to them psychically and mentally, so that they can function substance free.

Traditional rehabilitation is based primarily on counselling. In some instances addictions form from chemical imbalances that make the recovery process more difficult. In these cases psychiatric help is given.

Support and structured programs for those wanting help for addiction related problems are available at inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation clinics around the UK and further afield.

At Tailored Rehab we understand the situation, because we’ve been there. We can assist people with an addiction to turn their situation around by helping them to find the correct form of rehabilitation.
